Your Jane Goodall analogy is an excellent alternative action to the common self hatred one typically resorts to,which in turn creates the vicious cycle of emotional eating. I wish I had read your post last night as I once again did resort to the emotional eating due to severe depression, and had I thought about it your way, I may have taken that step back to jump out of my body to just observe my reactions to my own emotional state looking at them as knowledge rather than defeat. Lucky enough, I didn't overdo it as I normally or should I say abnormally do! So I know I am improving after years of eating without thinking! I can't believe this late in my life I am finally starting to think and not just do LOL!
