Boys Best Friend by Kate BanksEleven-year-old George has a dog, Bart, who seems to know everything about him-from when he is feeling sad to when he will arrive home from school. Georges new neighbor and classmate, Lester, also has a dog, Bill Gates, and Lester thinks he is the smartest animal in the world. When their teacher assigns a school science project about animal behavior, George and Lester decide to conduct an experiment based on the world-famous Rupert Sheldrakes experiments about dogs. George even has an email exchange with Dr. Sheldrake to help him with the project-and he and Lester soon find out that, through a few simple experiments, kids can make scientific discoveries, too. This middle-grade boys and dogs story is inspired by Rupert Sheldrakes bestselling adult book, Dogs that Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home.
19 Things That Happen When Your Best Friend Is a Boy And You’re a Girl
Whereas for a girlfriend fight, it means a whole of tear shedding, gossiping and weeks of barely speaking to each other. That girl called you something mean, your guy BFF will have words with her or with her boyfriend. Some guy treated you badly, he will come back to apologize once your BFF has dealt with him. First off, yes that was a total Harry Potter reference! Second, this is to extent true.
Having a boyfriend is obviously fantastic for many reasons. But, there's an undeniable awesomeness that comes with having a truly platonic male best friend. Simply put, unlike a boyfriend, who could potentially end things at any given moment, your male best friend does not have the luxury of calling it quits as soon as the going gets tough. Whether your ass looks absolutely fantastic or like a pancake, your male best friend has no reason to lie to you. As someone with a penchant for the finer things in life, I often find dinner dates to be a bit of a challenge.
Reality: Most of the time when you ask your guy BFF for guy advice, he will shrug and continue eating Fritos. Guys don't have any more knowledge about how some dude he's never met operates any more than we do. If I asked you what some girl in your office is like on a date, could you tell me? OK, so maybe you could but also you're very smart. Expectation: "I'll hang out with him and his friend, and I'll be one of the guys! Reality: I wish this were a thing, but truthfully you will probably just be his friend that everyone wants to sleep with. Guys often have a really hard time differentiating "cool girl" from "girl I wanna sleep with.
For most of my life, I've been a woman with male best friends. I don't mean that in some gross, off-putting "I don't get along with other women because I am way too sexxxy" kind of way — most of my friends do happen to be women. But for whatever reason, I've typically also had more close male friends than the average lady. When you're a woman with a male best friend, people think that you're up to something. They can't quite agree on what it is — are you trying to get laid? Trying to inflate your ego by being the " cool girl "? Trying to do both at the same time?
