William Purkey: Dance Like There’s Nobody Watching
This quote is all over the web and universally attributed to Mark Twain. I think it has popped up on this site a few times. My problem is I've read a lot of Twain and can't imagine what book, short story, speech, etc it would be from. In a way it doesn't really sound like Twain. It's much too optimistic and not abusive. Does anybody know where this quote comes from?
Sure, we all know it, but who originally said it? Popular quotes have been watered down, altered, and outright hijacked. This list sheds some light on the famous quotes whose authors are owed recognition. Next time someone spits out a popular quote, you will be able to retort with the well-known, rarely credited author. Trust me, this can be useful.

Because yeah, they probably ARE watching, but who cares? This seemingly small, stupid action can serve as a learning tool — how to stop worrying strangers are judging you. We hear it over and over again, but the truth is, life is very short and very unpredictable. If the jitter bug starts biting, let it happen. Do you really want to be on your death bed regretting all the times you could have let loose?

Before you know it, your head is swaying back and forth and your fingers are tapping on the steering wheel to the beat. And you know what? Your day just turned around. It means to let go. Dancing can be one of the most freeing forms of self-expression and creativity.
