Praying for Your Future Husband: Preparing Your Heart for His by Robin Jones Gunn

I’m not married. And I pray for my future husband. Thus my reasoning behind reviewing “Praying for Your Future Husband.”

I knew from the title, what I THOUGHT I was going to get, but I was completely taken by surprise once I started reading and by the time I was done, I was thoroughly blessed.

There are 13 chapters, each one detailing qualities we as young women should keep in mind as we pray for our future husbands. Robin and Tricia each made the chapters personal by adding their experiences. The book just doesn’t lay out how we should pray for our young men, but how we should pray for ourselves. This was huge for me as I know I need to grow so much more.

I often grow impatient in my waiting. thinking the moment will never come. But I have recently been giving so much back to God and letting HIM decide the right time. I reside in peace in that decision and this book helped solidify that decision.

Filled with scripture, stories to encourage us to “stick with it”, prayers and discussion guides that would work great for small or large groups, I believe every young woman needs to read this book. You won’t know until you get there, what your prayers did. Don’t wait until tomorrow, start today.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers for my copy to review.

Dreams or Visions about a future potential spouse?

Tag: dream of your future husband

Those seem to be two of our favorite words around here. Michael and I often talk about that first year together: the many nights we walked hand in hand feeling the chemistry growing between us, and the days we spent sharing our hopes and dreams for the future. I remember sitting down at the kitchen table one afternoon, with a ruler and pencil in hand. We were busy designing the a-frame home we hoped to build for ourselves. The upstairs had a loft bedroom, and downstairs, running alongside the hallway, we sketched out a sun room. This was our dream home—something we hoped would be in our future; something we planned to work alongside for.

Early in , I learned that the guy I was on-again-off-again with was actually seeing someone consistently while stringing me along. Hurt and exhausted from years of dysfunction, betrayals, and immaturity with this same guy, I dropped all communication with him. Which was very difficult for me at the time—he and I had been best friends and had dated for about five years. After we cut ties, I had a lot of emotional healing to do. But I asked earnestly: Father, give me a dream that will make all of this clear. I need to see that everything is going to be okay.

Uncover Hidden Dream Meanings

Your experience is going to be different, and your dream may not reveal what you think it does. Personally, I believe that God can and does use dreams to reveal Himself and His plans to us. Throughout Scripture, God uses dreams and dream interpreters to speak with His people. All rights reserved. Folklore has so many different ways to divine a future spouse, or at least, most commonly, a future husband. It makes sense that girls were more the target for such foretelling methods than men. When husbands could do almost anything they liked, short of murder, a girl might be wise to be wary, and anxious to know what was ahead of her. In other parts of England, they might expect to see the shades of those who will die during the year. A Lincolnshire girl could see those visions, too, but she might also see her future spouse, if she is going to marry during the year. In Scotland, girls would go out to throw grain, saying:. In other parts of the country, girls would fast.
