Red Queen (The Chronicles of Alice, #2) by Christina HenryThe author of Alice takes readers back down the rabbit hole to a dark, twisted, and fascinating world based on the works of Lewis Carroll...
The land outside of the Old City was supposed to be green, lush, hopeful. A place where Alice could finally rest, no longer the plaything of the Rabbit, the pawn of Cheshire, or the prey of the Jabberwocky. But the verdant fields are nothing but ash—and hope is nowhere to be found.
Still, Alice and Hatcher are on a mission to find his daughter, a quest they will not forsake even as it takes them deep into the clutches of the mad White Queen and her goblin or into the realm of the twisted and cruel Black King.
The pieces are set and the game has already begun. Each move brings Alice closer to her destiny. But, to win, she will need to harness her newfound abilities and ally herself with someone even more powerful—the mysterious and vengeful Red Queen...

Hello, Sign in Your Account. Globe audiences' favourite married couple is back in this laugh-a-minute, standalone sequel to the smash hit Sexy Laundry. When Henry unexpectedly loses his job, he and Alice are forced to reconsider their dreams for a comfortable retirement. To cut costs, they forego their usual summer cottage for a humble campsite and a copy of Camping for Dummies. As Henry and Alice struggle hilariously with tents, air mattresses, and meals in a bag, they also wrestle with a far greater unknown: a future for which they have no map. Please contact the Box Office if you have any questions. Globe delves into challenges of Mr.
And this time Henry and Alice are camping—sort of! If funny, warm and fuzzy is what you're looking for, look no further. The highlight of Riml's writing is that it does not matter what age an individual is in order for them to relate to the story, it only matters that they have experienced such emotions and situations. It will make you think about your life. But it will also make you laugh. If art is a reflection of life, this play certainly does its bit to mirror the state of many lives at the moment. Without being preachy, it delivers these considerations with laughs and poignancy.

Ytsma Some people work only to earn money, without identifying with the things they are paid to do. Others identify so completely with the work they do, that their mental image of themselves is not as a wage earner, but as a lawyer, or nurse, or teacher, or, like Henry, an engineer.
That show was a thematic Whiffle ball. And it was a blissfully short 70 minutes. Its success, however, may have given the playwright delusions of grandeur. Presumably, this should lead to comic hijinks, since the super-uptight engineer Henry and the creature-comfort-loving Alice who brings a couple Pottery Barn shopping bags to the campsite are about as outdoorsy as Donald and Melania. And so on. Oh, yes…and her sister shows up. On a motorcycle.
Given the success of Sexy Laundry , writing a follow-up must surely have seemed a bit daunting to Vancouver playwright Michele Riml. Would she be pressing her luck? Might audiences find it too much of a good thing? Could she do it justice? Does lightning strike twice?
