Blandings: TV Tie-In by P.G. WodehousePublished to coincide with the star-filled BBC production of Blandings, this superb new anthology sees these celebrated stories together for the first time.
Set in the delightfully dysfunctional mess of Blandings Castle these 6 gems follow the trials of poor Earl Emsworth and his beloved pig Empress as they clash with a panoply of friends and family, servants and spongers, bookies and hucksters. And all served up with great lashings of comedy from that rarest of geniuses: P.G. Wodehouse.
Blandings: Custody of the Pumpkin
The series was produced with the partial financial assistance of the European Regional Development Fund. Set in , Lord Emsworth Spall resides at Blandings Castle , along with his imperious sister Connie Saunders , his empty-headed son Freddie Jack Farthing , and any number of houseguests, love-struck nieces and their boyfriends. He would rather be left in peace with his prize pig The Empress , but his family is always at hand to complicate his life. The producer was Spencer Campbell and the director was Paul Seed. On 24 October , it was announced that Tim Vine would join the cast for the new series as Beach replacing Mark Williams. Reviews for the first episode were mixed, with Ben Lawrence of The Daily Telegraph awarding it two stars out of five and writing that the lack of Wodehouse's "authorial voice", ever present in the books to add "clarity and depth" and "invest psychological complexity into [the] characters", left the cast "all at sea". Tributes were paid to Empress, the Middle White sow used in the show, when she died from what vets believe was a "massive heart attack" just before the final episode was broadcast.

Guy Andrews' scripts were laugh-out-loud funny. That's very rare these days. I'd sit in bed and just chortle. It was such a treat to be sent them. Yes, I'm a huge Wodehouse fan. He writes proper jokes. They are crafted in an extremely funny way, which I know is so hard to do.
