The Great Christmas Bake Off 's Star Baker has been revealed, as four former contestants went head to head in the first of two seasonal specials. And it was Jane who was named the winner after three Christmas-themed tasks. First off, the contestants were challenged to make 12 Days of Christmas-themed biscuits during the signature bake. Unfortunately, Andrew got a bit stuck with his decorations literally at one moment during the challenge, as his transfers for the biscuits wouldn't come off their sheet. The Great British Bake Off often abbreviated to Bake Off or GBBO is a British television baking competition, produced by Love Productions , in which a group of amateur bakers compete against each other in a series of rounds, attempting to impress a group of judges with their baking skills, with a contestant being eliminated in each round, with the winner being selected from the contestants who reach the finals. After its seventh series, Love Productions signed a three-year deal with Channel 4 to produce the series for the broadcaster. The series is credited with reinvigorating interest in baking throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, with shops in the UK reporting sharp rises in sales of baking ingredients and accessories. It also has appeared in other countries, and the format has been sold to television producers globally, where local versions are made. The baking competition was conceived by producer Anna Beattie after she spoke to a friend who had seen 'bake-offs' in America. The development team first selected Mary Berry as a judge, and following an audition Paul Hollywood was also appointed. Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc were approached to be presenters of the show.
The program is hosted by Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig. Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are the judges. Fresh episodes of the series are to stream via Netflix after they have aired in the United Kingdom on Channel 4.
